At the end of the
section Phiroze and I drove through, we noticed that the bridge had
taken a bit of punishment from the previous cars. We had taken enough
brave pills on the stage not to push our luck, so I thought it wise
to effect a few repairs before going across the muddy river ourselves.

With the bridge itself swaying slightly as I drove across, Phiroze wisely
took the pictures of the car from the other side! |

| This
long-wheelbase, limousine rickshaw was spotted near the Cambodian border.
It shuttles people across into No Man’s Land between Thailand and
Cambodia where the casinos are located! |
 |
| Ivan
and I came across Phiroze and Ron, the two overseas Stewards, about three
kilometers into the start of Special Stage 2, where they had fallen foul
of the mud and slid into a ditch. |
 |
| The
local motorcycle gang, getting well covered in the mud, finally manhandled
the Steward’s truck out of the hole. Clearly, the ignominy of this
incident was too much for our exalted Stewards, and they promptly buggered
off leaving Ivan and I to complete the Stage with no notes! |

| There’s
always time for tea! Learning a lesson from the last rally in Thailand (Autodrone
0031) I took my own T-bags and milk with me on this trip and secured ‘nam
ron’ (hot water) from the hotels each morning. |
